I am certain that the fifth submarine of the series shall bear her commission only for five pointer or with an excellent mark ! And in near term prospect we expect a series of six submarines of this excellent project for Pacific Fleet.

Submarine “Velikiy Novgorod” of project 636.3 is the fifth in the series, which is being built by JSC “Admiralteiskie Verfi” for Russian Navy, she was laid down in October of 2014, and launched in March of 2016. Her construction became a continuation of realization of long-term plan of Ministry of Defense of Russia for recovery of combat readiness of Black Sea Fleet and the modernization program of diesel-electric submarines for Russian Navy. All six submarines of the stated series, which are being built at present by JSC “Admiralteiskie Verfi” took their names from the Cities of Military Glory.

First two submarines of the series – “Novopossyisk” and “Rostov-on-Don” – jointed Black Sea Navy Fleet in August and December of 2014, the third and the fourth submarine – “Stary Oskol” and “Kransnodar” were conveyed to the composition of Russian Navy in July and November of 2015.
