“Week Without Turnstiles” ended at JSC “Admiralty Shipyards”, an event that attracted Saint Petersburg vocational school and college students.
Over the week, 125 students aged 14 to 20 from industry-specific schools visited JSC “Admiralty Shipyards”. They represented Saint Petersburg State Marine Technical University, Saint Petersburg Radio Technical College, Saint Petersburg State Nevsky College (named after A.G. Nebolsin), and Saint Petersburg Electrical Machine Engineering College.
The young people visited the Admiralty Shipyards Museum where they learned interesting and little known facts from the 317-year long history of the yard, with the present-day life of the largest hub of the country’s conventional shipbuilding demonstrated to them during site tours to the yard’s main manufacturing facilities. Company employees shared with the younger generation their professional knowledge and talked about progress in implementing main work orders.
“Week Without Turnstiles” is a Russia-wide event conducted on the initiative of the Russian Engineering Union since 2015. The main goal of the initiative is to create an early career guidance system for teen-agers and young adults. JSC “Admiralty Shipyards” is a regular participant of this event.
Since 2020, due to the ongoing pandemic, large meetings have been suspended between students and yard employees. In order to keep up the career guidance work, JSC “Admiralty Shipyards” has taken part in on-line competitions and the annual professional excellence championship held among United Shipbuilding Corporation company groups.
