Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation Alexander Kozlov came with a working visit to JSC “Admiralty Shipyards”. In the course of the visit he inspected the ice-resistant self-propelled platform ”North pole”.
During the inspection of the vessel Alexander Buzakov reported to Alexander Kozlov about the work progress onboard of ice-resistant platform “North pole” and preparation of the vessel for the mooring trials which are scheduled for the end of September of current year, he also designated the planned date of sea acceptance trials and the date of handing over the platform to the customer.
The Contract between JSC “Admiralty Shipyards” and Roshydromet for construction of the ice-resistant platform was signed in April of 2019. The vessel was laid down on 10 th April of 2019. The construction of the hull is conducted in the framework of implementation of the state program for social and economic development of the Arctic region of the Russian Federation.
At present the works for alignment and final installation of main diesel; fabrication and installation of the systems, ensuring start of the diesel –generators are in progress; under preparation delivery of structure of upper deck rooms, their delivery for painting and insulating.
The ice–resistant platform “North Pole” includes the functions of a research center and designed for all-season expeditions in high northern latitudes in the Arctic Ocean. The vessel is designed for conduction of geological, acoustic, geophysical and oceanographic explorations; it is capable of running in ice without an ice –breaker and also take on board heavy helicopters of type МИ-8 АМТ (Ми-17). The ice-resistant platform provides comfortable and safe working and living conditions for the crew and the scientific staff at the polar station at temperature up to -50о and humidity 85%.
The main performance characteristics of the ice–resistant platform: the length – 83,1 m; the breath moulded – 22,5 m; the displacement – approximately 10390 tons; the power plant capacity – 4200 кW; the speed - not less than 10 knots; the hull strength - Arc8; the fuel endurance – about 2 years; the service life – not less than 25 years; the crew - 14 persons; the scientific staff - 34 persons. The ice-resistant self-propelled platform ”North pole” is being constructed for the following class of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping: KM(*) Arc5 AUT1-C HELIDECK-F Special purpose ship.
