And it is the first one in the row of the events organized to mark the jubilee.” “900 days of the siege, during which Leningrad was isolated from the Big Land, will remain forever as a symbol of heroism and a part of the Admiralty Shipyards’ history.
We are proud of our veterans, try to bring the memory about their heroic deed to the next generations and honourably follow the traditions of hard work established by them. Today the Shipyards have a portfolio of orders up to 2027 and are among the leaders of the Russian shipbuilding industry. Dear veterans! Thank you for your heroic deed. Your courage, patriotism, fortitude and great love of life will be remembered as an example by the younger generations of the Admiralty Shipyards personnel.
During the war 8,000 workers of the Admiralty Shipyards left for the front-line, and 5,000 of them did not return from battlefields. Another 3,000 people died from hunger and cold in Leningrad. Even during the years of the siege, when 70% of the Shipyards workers were women and teenagers, the shipyards kept on building and repairing ships, submarines, armoured boats and release products, required for the front.
During this period the Shipyards built and handed over to the Navy 7 submarines, 20 armoured boats, 66 submarine chasers, 118 self-propelled scows, 300 ships and submarines were repaired. Thousands of mortars, mortar shells, artillery shells and other military equipment were produced.
Today the Veterans Council of Admiralty Shipyards JSC includes 15 participants of the Great Patriotic War, 37 survivors of the Siege of Leningrad awarded with medals “For defense of Leningrad” and 135 residents of Leningrad under Siege.
