JSC «ADMIRALTY SHIPYARDS» CELEBRATED SUBMARINER’S DAY

SAINT-PETERSBURG, 17.03.2017.

On the eve of 111 anniversary from the foundation day of Russian submarine forces at JSC «Admiralty Shipyards» (is incorporated in Unified Shipbuilding Corporation) took place a solemn meeting at the memorial sign «Submarine strike».

In the ceremonial event participated Deputy Chief of the Main Staff of Russian Navy rear admiral Michael Neupokoev, the general director of JSC «Admiralty Shipyards» Alexander Buzakov, the veterans and the employees of the enterprise, the cadets of Naval polytechnic institute of Military Educational and Scientific Center of Naval Academy. – In March we will celebrate precisely 85-th anniversary after the beginning of serial production of submarines by the shipyard, – the general director of the shipyard Alexander Buzakov greeted the participants of the meeting. – During these years the shipyard’s personnel constructed over 300 submarines and deep-diving submersibles, many of them are unique and unrivalled throughout the world and the Russian shipbuilding. The shipyard is currently constructing three series of the submarines including two submarines of fourth generation of project «Lada», with which we attribute future development of conventional undersea fleet. The deep gratitude to the address of the shipyard stuff members expressed Deputy Chief of the Main Staff of Russian Navy rear admiral Michael Neupokoev: «The submarines, which slided down the ways of «Admiralty Shipyards» hold a special place in combat formation of submarine contingent of Russia. The enterprise was able in a relatively short time to make a group of the submarines for Black Sea Fleet, which operates in the critical direction. And today we are starting construction of the series of the submarines for Pacific Fleet. Foundation of the group will allow to raise the possibilities and the combat strength of Pacific Fleet for the purpose of reliable and worthy protection of Far East bounds of our country».

The history of construction of submarine by JSC «Admiralty Shipyards» begins its remembrances in 1720, when by a decree of Peter the Great workman Efim Nikonov built a «secret vessel» - а prototype of the first submarine in the world. The shipyard is credited with foundation of specially designed submarines, among which a legendary «Alfa» of project 705, nuclear deep-water power stations, the submarines «Piranha», the deep-diving submersibles «Rus» and «Consul» with submerged depth up to 6000 meters, the vessel for rescue of submarines «Igor Belousov». At present three series of the submarines are being constructed by the shipyard, including two submarines of fourth generation of project «Lada». In July of 2008 at the initiative of the veterans of the shipyard at the intersection of Rizskiy prospect and Stepan Razin street was opened memorial sign «100–th anniversary of submarine forces of Russia». In the central part of the sign is placed a model of nuclear submarine of project 671 RТМ. From the beginning of the seventieth and to the end of the ninetieth Admiralty Shipyards constructed 31 nuclear-powered submarines of the project and its modifications, which composed the main forces of multipurpose submarines of Russian Navy.

«Submarine strike» – is an artistic appearance, which, as envisioned by the sculpture, symbolizes dynamics of the wave, harmony of labor, attack and victory.
